Best Life Disability Services believe that their experiences should give you the opportunity to build capacity by exploring and learning about the places you visit, as such you will receive a welcome pack at the start of your respite that includes a travel journal. Here you can record your adventures with instant images taken by your support worker to look back on.
During your weekend away you can participate with your fellow travelers in gathering information and collecting mementos of your trip with our Scavenger Hunt.

Accommodation
These newly renovated Apartments on Tolmie are 2-3 bedroom, accessible accommodation. Featuring indoor and outdoor dining, fully equipped kitchens, free NBN WIFI, these apartments are a short walk to Commerical Street, the heart of shopping in Mount Gambier.
Tantanoola Caves
Only a 20-minute drive from heart of the city of Mount Gambier, Tantanoola Caves boasts an impressive collection of Stalactites and stalagmites. This cave system had wheelchair access and is definitely a sight to be seen.
Port MacDonnell
Port MacDonnell is a small fishing town located on the southern coast of Australia. The town is known for its fresh seafood, and you can find many restaurants and cafes serving up local specialties. The town also has a number of beaches where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Your visit will include lunch at The Breakwater Cafe with your travel companions.
Blue Lake
Nestled on a gorgeous volcanic landscape, the Blue Lake inhabits on one of the extinct volcanic craters of Mount Gambier. Whilst offering many awe-inspiring scenic spots of Mount Gambier and its volcanic crater, the Blue Lake also boasts a vibrant cobalt blue colour during the months of December through to March each year. From April through to November, the lake turns to a darker steel grey colour.
Metro Bakery and Cafe
This funky cafe located on Commercial Street caters to everyone's dietary requirements. Known for its delicious food, designer desserts, and unique local artwork you will absolutely love this dining experience.
Cave Gardens
The Cave Gardens feature a beautiful sinkhole, several lookouts and a suspended viewing platform at the top. It is believed that this sinkhole was the original water source for the early settlers in this area.
Visitors to Cave Gardens can enjoy a scenic walk to the lookouts and the viewing platform to enjoy a broader view of the garden. Viewing platform is wheelchair accessible.
Umpherston Sink Hole
The Umpherston Sinkhole (or the Sunken Garden) is one of the most spectacular gardens located in the Mount Gambier region.
Umpherston sinkhole was once a typical limestone cave that formed by the corrosion of limestone rocks by seawater waves and the sinkhole was naturally created when the chamber’s roof collapsed.
Enjoy some shopping and light refreshments at the Umpherston kiosk and souvenirs shop.
